Life in Detroit

I am married to my best friend in the world, Andrew Rohr. We choose to live in the inner city of Detroit to bring the love of Jesus to our neighbors and transform our city with the Gospel. We just purchased a home in the 48214 and are remodeling, just in time for our little baby Rohr to arrive at the end of the summer! God has been up to so much in our lives lately, and we want to keep you all updated. 

This is our story.

We started dating...

Got engaged...

Got married...

Went spelunking...

Moved to our first apartment in Detroit...

(Andrew was very excited!)

That's our 3rd floor flat on Parker Street.

We began house hunting in November 

and spent our first Christmas together...

only to find out a couple of days later that...

we were pregnant!

We found our future home and purchased it in February...

Baby kept growing (12 weeks here!)...

Work started on the house...

Baby bump started showing!

 

Kept on working...

We spent our first anniversary at the house...

And now we have one more month before we need to move in, 

just enough time to get settled before the baby comes!

Please keep us in your prayers. Home renovations have taken much more time, energy, and money than expected. There have been setbacks but we are confident that we are exactly where we are supposed to be.  We are fighting against more than we know- questioning the sacrifices we're making, dealing with issues of idolizing safety and comfort, struggling with the "American Dream" mentality, attempting to cross cultural, racial and economic barriers, and much, much more. Pray that we would throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and run with perseverance the race  marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1).
